DETROIT CELEBRATES LOCAL FAVORITES AS WINNERS OF THE 2008 WDIV "4 THE BEST" GUIDE, POWERED BY CITYVOTER

Presented by the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, more than 160,000 votes were cast in the second annual contest to discover Detroit’s best local businesses

Detroit, Michigan—October 6, 2008WDIV LOCAL 4 AND CLICKONDETROIT announces the winners of the 2008 “4 The Best” Guide, powered by CityVoter. The second-annual competition welcomed more than 85,000 people to vote, nominate and comment on their favorite local businesses. Presented by the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, the ClickOnDetroit.com 4 the Best Guide (www.clickondetroit.com/4thebest) offers visitors the insider’s scoop on the best in Detroit, featuring descriptions, photos, maps and recommendations on more than 3,800 businesses.

When it debuted in July of 2007, the ClickOnDetroit.com “4 The Best” Guide featured around 650 business profiles. Detroit locals were excited to share their recommendations, ideas, and thoughts on the best businesses in Motor City. During the first annual contest, the guide grew 195% thanks to people nominating more than 1,200 additional businesses. The 2007 contest generated over 2.6 Million pageviews and over 160,000 votes in 8 weeks.

With the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau returning for a second year as presenting sponsor, the excitement continued in 2008. The guide grew another 96% and currently features photos, details, special offers, and recommendations on more than 3,800 Detroit area businesses. The second annual contest ran from July 7 to August 31, 2008 and generated more than 160,000 votes and more than 3 Million pageviews.
