SAN DIEGO CELEBRATES THE 2008 WINNERS OF THE 10NEWS.COM A-LIST, POWERED BY CITYVOTER
More than 36K San Diegans cast their votes for their favorite local businesses and hidden treasures on the 2008 Best of 10News.com A-List
San Diego, California —October 13, 2008— 10News.com announces the winners of the 2008 Best of 10News.com A-List, powered by CityVoter, the second-annual competition in which thousands of locals vote online at www.10news.com/alist for their favorite businesses. The 10News.com A-List features more than 2,400 local businesses and has rapidly become the premier destination for local information, featuring descriptions, photos, maps, and recommendations on San Diego’s top local businesses.
The second annual contest ran from August 11 to October 3, 2008 and generated more than 1.2 million pageviews. More than 36,000 San Diegans eagerly nominated more than 800 new businesses and cast an estimated 60,000 votes for more than 100 categories such as Hair Salons, Pizza Places, and Wedding Photographers. Local businesses are pivotal to the success of the 10News.com. Throughout the contest, as more businesses logged in to manage their profiles and encourage their customers to vote, results continued to sky rocket. In the last week of voting alone, more than 13,000 votes were cast and the guide generated double the amount of pageviews when compared to the first week of voting.
The 10News.com A-List, powered by CityVoter, launched in September 2007 and exploded with user-generated content. At the end of the first 8-weeks, the guide had grown from an estimated 600 local businesses to feature roughly 1,500 businesses and had generated 60,000 votes and more than 1.1 million pageviews.
A new set of winners in selected categories will be posted every day this week on www.10news.com/alist. The complete list of 2008 winners will be posted on October 17th, and will receive access to marketing materials that help them promote their win.
“The 10News.com A-List reflects the pride San Diegans have in the great local businesses that make San Diego America’s Finest City,” comments Jason Maloney, KGTV Director of Multi-Platform Marketing. “Our community is excited to share their opinions and over the last two years, we have seen a steady increase in the 10News.com A-List audience size, traffic and revenue.”
“Working with KGTV over the last two years has been extremely rewarding,” comments Josh Walker, founder and CEO. “The station is well in touch with their viewers; the 10News.com A-List is part of their overall commitment to provide San Diego with the best possible information about their community.”
